Using blog commenting as a marketing strategy

I’ve long been telling clients and colleagues to get out there and leave comments on blogs. Particularly if they’re blogs you read, or ones that are influential in your niche/area of expertise.

It’s nice to have validation for this from SEO Moz.

There are lots of reasons for doing this, particularly the direct traffic and SEO results you can get out of your comments when they include a link back to your site.

In addition, it gets you out of marketing your business, and into a conversation about your expertise. You’ll find that talking about what you know and are passionate about can be a much more effective marketing device than polishing your 60-second pitch.
